Here’s what I will say about friend trips: everyone has a different idea about what’s “a good trip”.
But if you can find a group of people that let you wake up at 10am while they hike camelback of satan and meet you back at the pool where you’ve made a chair indention, as you haven’t moved an inch… then you’ve found your people.
I happily let them go to all the foodie restaurants and felt 0% bad for myself even though I would have been happy with beans and rice, so it’s a 2 way street.

There’s something about being loved for just the way you are, is it not the most restful place to live life ? No posturing, no wondering if they like you, no performing. Just yell singing lizzo for 5 minutes in the accidental club and a million inside jokes which will be told at our funerals. I could end there on that downer of a note but let me say something here: the internet makes friendships look easy for some, but these are friendships which have seen us through some real bad days.
Our not-so-finest days.

In fact, this particular trip originated at a mother’s funeral. We all went to simply stand with our friend saying goodbye to her mama on cold day in the PNW.
Years later we meet in sunnier circumstances, but same spirit. Same group. Very different humans, offering the freedom to be our worst and best selves and choosing love all the way. #fokduhshuddle (don’t ask😂)
