Going in between the lake and our house quite a bit, I get all jumbled about where I put stuff.
This time, I lost my wedding band & the gold rings the kids gave me one mother’s day. They aren’t soldered to the wedding ring, as I like to leave more room for mistakes and losses😑.
For 3 weeks, I’d looked everywhere. I finally told Nato a week in with a sheepish frown… he said, “Can you not pick one place to always set them?” Go away w/ your common sense!
On Friday, Good Friday, we came back to the house and the kids were making another disastrous fort & I heard Penelope chide Pruett, “You can’t play with Mom’s rings. Those are important, go put them back.” I was just coming into the kitchen and yelled,
“WHAT DID YOU SAY?”
There they were laying on the counter & I gasped with delight, “Pruett, where did you find them!” He said proudly, “On the whirly twirly straw!” Apparently when doing the dishes, I put them on the straw in the marker cup, not the ring dish.
Then someone moved the cup to the craft cabinet, not seeing the rings. There they sat hidden all this time. I never noticed the straw said a word, until Pru handed it to me. I know God doesn’t have to keep giving me love notes this far down the road in our healing—to tell me he doesn’t forget my hurts. To remind me of our great miracle of redemption during this exact season long ago.
The Lenten season is so special to me —Our first date was Maundy Thursday(which we suddenly realized the new marriage video was released on randomly), our first-back -together church service was on Easter.
That Lenten season 12 years ago was about waiting, anticipating, and grieving, and it was about finding what was lost. He is not afraid to let us lose something & sit in the waiting, to show us what his great love is capable of. The ups and downs of our stories often don’t make sense when we’re going through them, but I’m telling you, they spell the word LOVE.
We are a part of the greatest love story ever told & we celebrate that today. Nothing is too gone, lost , or dead with his great love. He is risen!
